Tribe in Action

kangarooWe are a community of slow, independent and long-term travellers. We share our travel knowledge with you so that one day you will join the tribe and share yours with us.

While there is a lot of information on Independent Travel, it is often scattered across the internet. Often it requires hours to find exactly what you are looking for.

Welcome to the collected travel wisdom of our tribe.

If, like us, you would rather spend that time traveling, start searching our stockpile of eclectic long-term journeys in the TRIPS section. Go through the stories, tips and interviews.
You will find the most comprehensive and relevant information for your trip.

smilling faceYou are probably here because you love the idea of independent long-term travel. Yours may be complete, ongoing or about to start.

If you are approaching lift off, you may be having second thoughts. Don’t worry; all of the tribe knows that feeling. We are here to tell you that there is no perfect time to commence your journey, or rather, now is probably the best time to start the process. It is a big shift, and it should feel daunting. Though there are numerous factors to consider, from career, loved ones to the all-pervading issue of money, just remember that the hardest step is the first. Be responsible but embrace the jump.

Your journey will require preparation. So along with tips from the people who have returned, intact, from such adventuring, you are also able to search and discover unique trips and find stories to inspire. Also find links to our favorite guides and blogs.

Best of all you will find countless like-minded souls who have already had the courage to go.

When you are ready, pack your bags, kiss your loved ones goodbye, and go!
Don’t forget to let us know how you are doing.

If you are among the lucky few who have experienced your own life altering long-term trip, help us inspire the next batch of insanity.

Share your trip.

Long-term travel is not for the faint of heart, but if you dare, it is most rewarding. You will be challenged. You will despair. At some points you will wonder why you listened to the so-called ‘friends’ who told you to do it (hopefully that was us!)

However you will also grow. You will learn and evolve. You will dance like never before, sing without a care, and laugh with the joy of life. You will experience cultures, customs, festivals and friendships. You will know what it is to be free.

And in the end, when you choose to return, you will discover the gifts you have received. You will thank those same friends who nudged you out the door, for they will have changed your life.
Then you will help us get the next person out the door!
